USHERING MINISTRY

​Ushers have been one of the most consistent and constant ministries in the history of the church. We have been doorkeepers of the Lord and welcome the chance to serve and greet the people who attend our church. We are the first face most people see when they attend service. 

We are always recruiting good people who love to deal with people and make sure they feel welcome at St. Simons Presbyterian Church. Our goal is. to continually improve and enhance the church through our ministry.

If you are interested in serving as an Usher, please fill out the form below and someone will be in touch with you in the following week. Please note that by filling out this form, you are not committing to a specific date. We will first reach out to you to discuss Usher training and then discuss available dates.

5 Verbs for Ushers

#1: Pray

• Pray for your service as greeter
• Pray for the people you’ll impact
• Pray for doing your work well.

#2: Observe

• Expect needs and meet them.
• Help the bewildered.
• Watch for friction points and fix them.
• Notice first time visitors you don’t know.

#3: Initiate

• Look for people you don’t know.
• Take steps to talk with them and visit.
• Listen and suggest next step for their growth.

#4: Smile

• Imagine you are being photographed
• Your own body language
• ​Eye contact

#5: Serve

• Promptness in showing up on time
• Always greeting even if not on duty
• Attitude affects actions.

USHER MINISTRY TRAINING + BASIC CPR

If you feel called to join our Usher/Greeter team, have already signed up, or you just wish to learn basic cpr, please join us for a training session on October 30th at 9:00am in the Sanctuary.
