Worship Services

Worship is at the heart of life at St. Simons Presbyterian. We gather every Sunday to hear the story of God's love at work in the world and in our lives. During worship we hear the Scriptures read, listen to the Word proclaimed, confess our sins, lift our voices in song, and seek to be reminded of the good news of God's mercy. Worship is not only an opportunity to praise God but also to be refreshed and inspired to go out into our everyday lives and community to serve God. We have two main worship services each Sunday:

Early Service
A 45-minute service of scripture, preaching, and prayer in the sanctuary.
Traditional Service
A 1-hour traditional worship service in the sanctuary with organ and choir.

What to Expect

As a Presbyterian Church we appreciate the rituals, tradition, and language that has formed people for generations. That said, we are also a church that is not afraid to tinker with tradition from time to time.  You will find that worship at St. Simons Presbyterian seeks to strike a balance between past and present - honoring our past but open to God working in new ways. We sing old hymns and contemporary choruses. Our sermons are rooted in historic Christian theology but relevant to twenty-first century daily living. Our prayer is that we might be and become a worshiping community that encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. We hope you will join us in pursuing that mission!

New to the whole church/Presbyterian/Sunday morning thing?

Let us be the first to admit it: Going anywhere that is unfamiliar can be really hard. Going to a church you don't know may be even harder. We don't want this to be the case at SSPC. Here are a few things that we hope will help make you feel at home on Sunday morning:
All Are Welcome:
We welcome all people from all places, wherever they are on their life journey.
Children:
Children are always welcome in worship. We also have a nursery and children's programming every Sunday morning for those desiring it.

Dress:
We believe that God cares more about what's in our hearts than what's on our bodies, so please come to church dressed how you want to be dressed. While here, you will surely run into people wearing suits and others wearing shorts. Come as you are.

Presbyterianism:
As Presbyterians we are first and foremost Christians. At the center of our theology is an understanding of God's radical grace and our call to respond gratefully to that grace through worship and service to others. St. Simons Presbyterian is a member of the Presbyterian Church USA.
