Palm Sunday
Procession of Palms

Join us on Palm Sunday as we celebrate that start of Holy Week and the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem with a procession of palms at the 10:30AM worship service. The palms will be saved for Pentecost Sunday and burned in a fire pit out front to use for Ash Wednesday the following year.

Maundy Thursday
Communion & Tenebrae

Join us on Thursday evening for a Maundy Thursday Communion & Tenebrae service. Tenebrae is an ancient service that invites awed meditation and prayerful self awareness. Worshipers will enter and leave the sanctuary in silence. The service commemorates the night that Jesus and his disciples were together for the last time under the close approaching shadow of the cross.

During the first part of the service we will celebrate communion after a short homily. Then during the singing of a hymn we will strip the paraments from the chancel space and move into the Tenebrae service. There will be 7 readings encompassing Mark’s full passion narrative ending with Christ’s death; 7 hymns or anthems; and seven candles extinguished. Left in the darkness we wait for the “strepitus”-- a loud noise representing the closing of the tomb.

Good Friday
Luncheon & Worship

St. Simons Presbyterian Church would like to invite the Golden Isles Community to a noon Good Friday Worship Service followed by a luncheon, hosted by our PW Circles.

Date: Friday, March 29
Lunch: 11:30AM in the Social Hall
Worship: A three-hour vigil will take place in the sanctuary from 12:30PM-3:30PM.

A $5 donation is recommended for the luncheon.

SSPC Easter Worship: "Flowering of the Cross" at 8:30 & 10:30 AM with Rev. Steve Goyer (Feel free to bring flowers from home to help decorate our beautiful Easter Cross.)
NO SUNDAY SCHOOL
Easter Potluck Luncheon: Social Hall at 11:30 AM (no signup required!)
Easter Egg Hunt on the Church Lawn following the luncheon at 12:30 PM

Please note that our Easter luncheon will be potluck! The church will provide chicken and we encourage everyone to please bring a side dish.

And a Visit from the Easter Bunny!

Following our Easter luncheon, children are welcome to join us for a HUGE egg hunt on the lawn and a visit from the Easter Bunny! There will be designated areas for different age groups. Directions will be announced after the luncheon.

Easter Potluck Luncheon Volunteers Needed!

We're in need of several volunteers to help with both setup and cleanup for our Easter Sunday Potluck Luncheon. Please be sure to signup if you're available to help.

Setup: Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9am to begin receiving dishes. setup volunteers will also help arrange dishes on serving table just before luncheon begins around noon. Ideal volunteer time is 9-12pm, if possible.
Cleanup: Following luncheon, volunteers will help remove dishes from serving area, clean kitchen, clean tables, breakdown tables, and sweep social hall.
