Local Mission Opportunities
Day of Service
Day of Service is an intergenerational event that brings together people of all ages and abilities to go out in teams and volunteer at local organizations around Glynn County. Participants begin the day together at the church with breakfast and a devotion before heading out to their worksites, then return to the church for lunch and a time to share about the morning. Children are encouraged to participate, and childcare is available for children age 5 and under.
Ways We Serve
Day of Service projects vary based on current community needs and may include medical packing with MAP International, cleanup projects with Keep Golden Isles Beautiful, yard work and service projects at Morningstar Children’s Center, Habitat for Humanity work, projects with Hand in Hand of Glynn, and service opportunities around the SSPC campus. Volunteers of all ages and skill levels can find a meaningful way to participate.

Manna House
Serve the Hungry
Manna House is a soup kitchen located in Brunswick that is supported by volunteers who serve thousands of free meals each month. St. Simons Presbyterian members serve at Manna House on the first Monday of every month, and everyone is invited to join in this fun and meaningful area of service.
Angel Tree
Angel Tree is an annual ministry each November and December that provides Christmas gifts to children in Glynn County who might otherwise go without. Church members work with guidance counselors and teachers at select schools to identify children and families who would benefit from the program. Many of these families may be experiencing homelessness, recovering from a house fire or other hardship, or caring for children in foster homes. Gifts are collected, sorted, wrapped, stored, and delivered to families before schools close for Christmas break, with volunteers working together to make sure no child is left out.
Angel Tree
Angel Tree Volunteers
The Angel Tree Committee is always looking for volunteers to help prepare for our angels. Those interested can share their contact information and will be contacted with more details as the season approaches.
Volunteers may help by joining the shopping crew to complete wish lists using Angel Tree donations made to the church, delivering gift bags to schools, and pre-numbering gift bags for distribution.

MAP Packing
You are invited to join us on the 3rd Tuesday of Each Month at their office in Brunswick to help pack boxes of basic medical supplies for MAP international to distribute around the globe. Join the group for a delicious lunch together afterwards. All are welcome!
What is MAP International:Â MAP International is a Christian organization providing medicine and health supplies to those in need around the world so they might experience life to the fullest. MAP serves all people regardless of religion, gender, race, nationality or ethnic background.

Hunger Action Team
The Hunger Action Team was created in 2006 to help address hunger among school-age children and their families in our community. What began as support for a few local schools has grown to serve all 10 grammar schools and 4 middle schools in Glynn County. The ministry provides healthy snacks, emergency food support, and 120 family food boxes during Thanksgiving and spring school breaks. This work is supported through the church’s yearly budget and individual donations.
Our Mission
The Hunger Action Team seeks to respond directly to hunger facing school-age children and their families, increase awareness of hunger concerns and solutions, and engage the congregation and community in meaningful service using everyone’s gifts and talents, with Christ as our guide.

An SSPC Thanksgiving Tradition

If you are staying in town for the holiday, be sure to mark your calendar for our Annual Thanksgiving Pancake Breakfast! Started in 1972, this wonderful tradition is led by men of the church who rise early each Thanksgiving morning to cook a hearty breakfast of pancakes, eggs, grits, bacon, and other fixings that is free for all to enjoy.
Breakfast will be served from 7:30-9:30AM. Bring yourself, your family, your neighbors, and anyone else you run into along the way – all are welcome!

This ministry was born through a growing need for addressing homelessness in our local community. On the 2nd and 3rd Monday of each month, volunteers work together in the SSPC kitchen to cook and box a total of 75 meals. These meals are then delivered to the Salvation Army shelter in downtown Brunswick and served to those in need.

Birthday Ministry
Help us make a difference in someone's life on their special day! Our Birthday Ministry provides personalized cakes and homemade cards to residents of Safe Harbor! Signup opportunities are updated monthly, based on the current residents so there's always a chance to get involved and spread some joy. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out to Madelynne Risi. Join us in making birthdays a little sweeter for those who need it most.
Cake Details
Cakes can be purchased through a local bakery and should feed 20–30 people. Publix has generously offered to provide at discount for cakes ordered through them.
