Worship is at the heart of life at St. Simons Presbyterian. We gather every Sunday to hear the story of God’s love at work in the world and in our lives. During worship we hear the Scriptures read, listen to the Word proclaimed, confess our sins, lift our voices in song, and seek to be reminded of the good news of God’s mercy. Worship is not only an opportunity to praise God but also to be refreshed and inspired to go out into our everyday lives and community to serve God.

New to Church or Presbyterian Worship?
We know that visiting somewhere unfamiliar can be hard, and visiting a church you do not know can feel even harder. We want Sunday morning at SSPC to feel welcoming and accessible.

We welcome all people, wherever they are on their life journey. Come as you are and find a place to worship, connect, grow, and belong.
Children
Children are always welcome in worship. We also offer nursery and children’s programming every Sunday morning for families who would like that option.
Dress
Please come dressed how you want to be dressed. You will find people in suits and people in shorts. Come as you are. We want you here.
Presbyterian Identity
As PCUSA Presbyterians, we are first and foremost Christians. At the center of our theology is God’s radical grace and our call to respond gratefully through worship and service to others.
What to Expect
As a Presbyterian church, we appreciate the rituals, tradition, and language that have formed people for generations. At the same time, we are not afraid to tinker with tradition from time to time. Worship at St. Simons Presbyterian seeks to strike a balance between past and present, honoring our past while remaining open to God working in new ways. We sing old hymns and contemporary choruses. Our sermons are rooted in historic Christian theology but are relevant to twenty-first century daily living. Our prayer is that we might be and become a worshiping community that encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to worship God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.
Children in Worship
We value the spiritual growth and development of all God’s children. Because children learn and worship differently, we offer several ways to help them be comfortable as they learn, worship, and come to know the love of God.
Nursery
Open from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM for ages 0–5. The nursery offers a safe, nurturing environment in the children’s building toward the back of the church. During worship, children receive loving care and attention, and those who are old enough also receive a small Bible lesson because children are never too young to learn that God loves them.
Children’s Chapel
For preschool through 2nd grade. Offered every Sunday except communion Sundays, usually the first Sunday of the month. Children’s Chapel gives older children an opportunity to continue learning through age-appropriate worship and helps bridge the transition into full-time worship in the sanctuary.
Family Flexibility
Children of all ages are welcome either to participate in children’s programming or to remain with their family in worship.
Communion
Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Nursery is available through age 5, and beyond that we want children to begin learning to love worship, including participation at the Lord’s Table with their families.
Children, Youth & Nursery Policies
St. Simons Presbyterian Church takes seriously the privilege and responsibility of caring for children and youth. To provide a safe, welcoming, and nurturing environment for all participants, volunteers, staff, parents, and guardians are asked to review and abide by our Children, Youth, and Nursery policies. Copies of these policies are available through the church office and ministry leaders upon request.
Music Ministry
The music ministry celebrates our faith through the joy of music. Music at St. Simons Presbyterian is guided by the belief that it enhances, reinforces, and points to the spoken Word and Sacrament in the Reformed tradition.
- A variety of styles of music are presented with energy and authenticity, with a strong traditional base.
- Through rehearsals, activities, and worship services, we experience Christian fellowship and connection to God.
- There are music ministry opportunities for children and adults of all ages.
- All it takes is a willingness to work with others in sharing your talent and time for the glory of God.
Special Music Services
An annual service celebrating Scottish heritage with the First Coast Highlanders. Takes place in late January.

A Sunday dedicated to bluegrass music and traditional gospel hymns. Takes place in August.

An Advent worship service in which the sermon is the music. Takes place in December.
Â
Formed over 30 years ago, this organization is dedicated to the presentation of classical music to the community. Concerts take place in the Sanctuary every Tuesday in February.

Brings singers, musicians, and community members together every December to present Handel’s Messiah.

This introspective smaller work is intended to be a worship experience that encourages those going through times of sorrow and grief during the holidays.Â

Chancel Flowers
It is the tradition of SSPC for church members to purchase flowers for Sunday services. Members contact a local florist of their choice for their selected date.
Donated flowers can also support the church’s flower ministry. Flowers from the second and fourth Sundays of the month are broken down by volunteers and given to members of the church family. Flowers from the third Sunday of the month are brought to a local nursing home.
