Welcoming Our New Associate Pastor: Annie Franklin Arvin
At a congregational meeting on Sunday, June 17, 2018, Annie Franklin Arvin was approved as our next Associate Pastor of Youth and Mission. Annie is a lifelong Presbyterian from Morganton, NC and recent graduate of Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. Annie’s deep faith, love of youth, and passion for ministry and mission alongside people of all ages make her an ideal fit for St. Simons Presbyterian. You can learn more about Annie and her husband, Thomas, by reading the introductory brochure below. We give thanks for the tireless work of the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee, which has been meeting since last November to identify and call our next associate pastor. Annie will begin in her role on Monday, July 30.
Annie was born in Charlotte, NC, but her parents quickly chose to move back to their small town of Morganton, NC to raise their family. Annie was baptized and confirmed at First Presbyterian Church of Morganton where she first felt the call to ministry while volunteering with Vacation Bible School.
Annie graduated from North Carolina State University, where she studied International Relations. At NC State, Annie was active in Presbyterian Campus Ministry (PCM) and served on the Leadership Team her sophomore through senior years. It was during this time that Annie’s call to ordained ministry took it’s shape and she began to act upon it. Upon graduation, Annie served as the Campus Ministry Intern of the Presbyterian Student Association at the University of South Carolina. After a year of campus ministry, Annie continued following God’s call to ministry and left for Union Presbyterian Seminary in Richmond,
Annie recently graduated from Union Presbyterian Seminary with a Masters in Divinity and a Masters in Christian Education. While in seminary, she served at First Presbyterian Church and Westminster Canterbury. She completed Clinical Pastoral Education at VCU Health Systems in Richmond, VA. In her free time, Annie enjoys running, daydreaming about puppies, and spending time with her husband, Thomas!
