SSPC Re-Keying
Beginning September 2, 2025
After much thoughtful research, prayerful consideration, and multiple meetings over the past few months, the Building and Grounds Committee—alongside the church Staff, Deacons, and Elders—has approved a plan to improve the safety and accessibility of our facilities through changes to both our interior and exterior door locks.

KEY UPDATES:
Interior Locks
- Only pastors and staff keys will be rekeyed.
- Church member access to interior spaces will not change.
Exterior Locks
- Four exterior doors and one interior door will be upgraded with electronic locks.
- All other exterior locks will be removed, making those doors exit-only (operable via panic bars).
- Old exterior keys will no longer work. Please return your key to the church office so it can be repurposed for interior use.
- Entry will now be by fob or keypad code (PIN) instead of physical keys.
Electronic Lock Locations
- Office Door
- Gathering Hall Door
- Verandah Door
- Preschool Door
- Preschool Hallway Internal Door
HOW ACCESS WILL WORK:
Automatic Open Times:
- Office Door: open Mon–Thu, 9am–4pm.
- All electronic doors: open Sunday mornings and during Wednesday programming.
- Preschool/MMO doors: open only to teachers and select background-checked staff during school hours.
- Staff and preschool/MMO teachers will receive a fob and/or PIN.
- Group leaders who need access outside regular hours will receive a PIN.
- Access can also be scheduled in advance for groups that meet regularly.
- Each PIN is unique and recorded by the system—please do not share your code.
- Committees, elders preparing communion, community partners (e.g. Al-Anon, Girl Scouts, florists), and short-term users (e.g. visiting youth groups, contractors, wedding vendors) will receive PINs as needed.
- A request form will be available if additional access is required.
EMERGENCIES:
- Staff and teachers will be able to initiate an emergency lockdown using their fob and by contacting 911.
- Designated personnel can clear an emergency lockdown.
- Anyone can exit the building at any time, from any door.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:
- Sundays and Wednesdays will feel the same. Doors will still be open for worship, fellowship, and programming.
- If you currently have an exterior key, it will no longer work—please return it to the office.
- If your group needs building access outside of normal hours, you’ll be given a unique PIN by David Keen.
