Home to Home: Watching & Waiting
Advent Devotions with St. Simons Presbyterian Church Please email entries to Frieda (frieda@sspres.org) or Kate (kate@sspres.org) by November 20th. Advent, the weeks we wait and prepare for the birth of Jesus, begins at the end of November! SSPC is creating a family devotion to be used at our own homes as a way to connect to each other during this unique time of distancing. Typically, we would count the days until Christmas with a whole lot of hustle and bustle, but like everything else, Advent 2020 will be different. Maybe this is a gift? In the past few months, as our world sheltered at home, we unexpectedly had to slow down… to watch and wait. We have had some practice at watching and waiting! What if we look at the weeks until Christmas as a time to treasure through a different lens? How will we watch and wait during Advent 2020? The themes of Advent are HOPE, PEACE, JOY and LOVE. In a world full of brokenness, what brings you HOPE? In a world full of noise, where do you see PEACE? In a world full of sorrow, where do you find JOY? In a world full of uncertainty, how are you amazed by LOVE? Invite us into your “home” by writing about how you plan to watch and wait and experience Advent 2020. Do you have a family tradition to share? Is there something special you wish to begin this year? What memories from the past will you cherish even more now? How have the challenges of the pandemic changed how you will embrace Advent this year? As a visual for our Advent Devotional (even if you don’t send a writing), send us a photo of your front door with a Christmas wreath. |
