Meet the Associate Pastor Nominating Committee

PictureCommittee Members (from left to right): Michael Johnson, Anne Marie Stirewalt, Ellie Watkins, Greer Ward, Sean Hidalgo, Mary Bryson, Stephen George, Ellen Fleming
Mary Bryson
Mary is an 8th grade Science teacher at Glynn Middle School. She is the wife of Ben Bryson and the daughter of Sandy and Wells Kilgore. Mary has been a member of SSPC for two years. In that time she has taught youth Sunday School and volunteered for VBS. She loves being in small groups and book clubs at SSPC that grow her faith and friendships.

Ellen Flemming
I was born in Washington, DC and grew up in Virginia. I have spent my entire adult life as a teacher and administrator in independent schools both in Georgia and Virginia.  Presently, I am serving as the Interim Head of School at Frederica Academy on St. Simons.  For many years, I was a contented and very active Methodist and for well over a decade have been a very happy SSPC member serving wherever I can.

Stephen George
I recently retired from the Glynn County School System. The great majority of my teaching career was spent at Oglethorpe Point Elementary School, although I began my career at Risley Alternative School and St. Simons Elementary. I grew up attending the First Presbyterian Church of Brunswick, and have been a member of SSPC for about twenty years.

Sean Hidalgo (APNC Chair)
I have been an active member of St. Simons Presbyterian since 1994.  My wife, Denise, and I have three daughters: Erin (19), Emma (18), and Sophie (14). I work in the commercial food service industry as the Southeast Regional Sales Manager for Kerry Inc. I am very grateful to be serving on the APNC.

Michael Johnson
I am married to Julie Johnson and father to two adult daughters, Catie Stewart and Meg Johnson. Our family joined St. Simons Presbyterian in December of 1998 after moving to the island. My career has been spent in the hospitality industry. Since 2001, I have worked at the historic King and Prince Beach & Golf Resort as the General Manager. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maine.

Anne Marie Stirewalt
I moved to St. Simons in the summer of 1998 from the Atlanta area. We joined St. Simons Presbyterian Church at that time and have loved being a part of this church family. I was married to David for 50 years and we have three children and nine grandchildren. I am a retired teacher. Music is a very important part of my life. I have played handbells and trumpet in church for the past nineteen years. I also have served on the Worship and Music Committee for several years.

Greer Ward
A native of Baxley, Georgia I’ve lived in the Golden Isles for eighteen years. Growing up as a member of the Catholic church, I found a new home in St. Simons Presbyterian and joined SSPC in 2012. Currently I have the privilege of serving as a Deacon in the Class of 2018 and on the Community Mission Ministry Team.  I’ve worked with United Community Bank since 2004 where I am the Regional Banking Manager for Coastal Georgia and Bluffton, South Carolina. Locally, I serve on the Executive Board of Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce, Keep Golden Isles Beautiful and am a member of the American Cancer Society Victory Board.  I live on St. Simons Island with my daughter, Mobley Grace.

Ellie Watkins
Ellie Watkins is a 9th grade student at Glynn Academy.  She is a JV cheerleader and a member of a 707 group, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), and the Spirit Club at GA.   Ellie was Baptized and Confirmed at SSPC.   She loves her church family and volunteers with the childrens' programs, goes to camp at New Ebenezer, and has enjoyed MIssion trips to Asheville and Charlotte. She lives on St. Simons Island with her older brother, Clay, and her parents, Brad and Meady Watkins.
