St. Simons Presbyterian Church has a new logo, which we adopted in March 2010. In this simple design, we think we can share a lot about what our purpose as a faith community is.
The cross is apparent at first glance, but a closer look reveals the flowing waters in the lower left point not only to the beautiful waters surrounding the island home of our church but also to the waters of baptism and the gathering flow of the church as a people toward our God.
The light streaming from the upper right represents Jesus as Light of the World and God reaching toward his people meeting them at the cross.
The flow of the waters through the cross to the light represents the transformation that happens to each of us as we encounter Jesus and go on to shine God’s love to the world.
Place is central to the design. It may appear that the place is where the sun meets the sea on our beautiful island home. However, St. Simons Presbyterian Church is not so much about where we meet but the transformation that happens to us as we gather to be made whole by God’s love. It is that change that reveals Jesus as represented by the cross. God’s people are dynamic and meant for transformation to a greater likeness of God through the power of his Holy Spirit.
We pray that we would gather at St. Simons Presbyterian Church to worship our God, love and care for one another, and be renewed and enlightened in the process to go serve God and others by delivering his love everywhere we go.
