Make a Joyful Noise To the Lord

In the music ministry at SSPC. we celebrate our faith guided by the understanding that we enhance, reinforce and point to the spoken Word and Sacrament in the Reformed Tradition through the joy of music.  A variety of styles of music are presented with energy and authenticity with a strong traditional base. Through rehearsals, activities and worship services we experience Christian fellowship and connection to our God.  We invite you to be a part of music at SSPC. All it takes is a willingness to work with others in sharing your talent and time for the glory of God. Celebrate the presence of our Lord through the joy of music!

Upcoming Events - Choir Schedule

2012

HEY!  HAVE YOU MISSED COMING TO CHOIR?  I'VE MISSED YOU.  KEEP WATCHING FOR DETAILS.   WE BEGIN KINGDOM KIDZ ON SUNDAY, JANUARY 29TH AT 4:00 AND WEEKIDZ ON WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 1 AT 4:30.

Children's Music

An always exuberant, exciting part of the music program is the training of children in the skills of singing and the playing of instruments. Singing in worship regularly, presenting a Christmas program and an annual spring musical are among the events involving our children’s choirs.

The Cherub Choir is a group designed for Preschoolers - 3 and 4 year olds (also Pre-K).

The Seraphim Choir is for ages Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

The Kingdom KidZ Choir is for our third through fifth grade children.

All of these groups are supported by a program of always fun and exciting activities included in the schedule. Visit our children's ministry page for more information.

Cherub and Seraphim Choirs meet from September to May on Wednesdays from 4:30 – 6:00 pm.  We meet on the playground, then go to the Music Attic or activity time. These choirs “change classes” to maintain separate groups. Children are to be picked up in the Children’s Sunday School Wing adjacent to the playground.

Kingdom KidZ Choir meets from September to May on Sundays from 4:00 – 6:30 pm. We meet in the Music Attic for singing and chimes at 4:00.  At 5:00, Ms. Frieda has activities with the children.  At 6:00 we meet for a snack supper with the Youth of our church.  Parents can pick up their children in the Britt Room/Dining Area.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir leads singing in the 11 o’clock service, presenting special programs during Advent and Holy Week. We love social gatherings and are active in many other areas of the church. Ages 18 and up are encouraged to join this group. Must have a sense of pitch and a love for singing. Schedule an appointment with the Director of Music to join.

SCHEDULE

The Chancel Choir meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 pm mid-August through May and at 7:00 pm in June and early July in the Choir Practice Room adjacent to the Sanctuary. A warm up time is scheduled for 10:30 am on Sundays. Sometimes the choir will meet in the sanctuary at 10:00 am on Sundays to rehearse for special anthems or services.

Chancel Ringers

The Chancel Ringers play four octaves of bells and handchimes, sometimes using special techniques such as shelley ringing and four-in-hand which are taught by the director. Our music and direction skill is up to AGEHR standards and they attend workshops out of town occasionally. We have also performed at local venues such as the Heritage Center at the Lighthouse. Must have some music reading ability, but mostly a love for music. Experienced Youth may also be a part of this group as needed. Schedule an appointment with the Handbell Director to join.

SCHEDULE

The Chancel Ringers meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 pm mid August through May in the Bell Choir Practice Room next to the Parlor. When they play for both services, they meet at 8:00 am on that Sunday morning to rehearse.
