Rhonda Hambright, Director of Music

Rhonda Hambright, Director of Music, is a 1982 cum laude graduate of Wesleyan College with a degree in voice performance. Growing up in Stone Mountain, Georgia, she was exposed to the great music in the Atlanta area and was able to grow up in a church setting that allowed her to work side by side with the Director of Music.  She substituted for the Chancel Choir Director at the age of 16 and has been deeply involved in church music since the age of 13.

Her first full time church music position was with First United Methodist in Brunswick, Georgia.  Since that time, she has raised a family, directed children's choirs at both St. Simons Presbyterian and Wesley United Methodist Church and worked as a performer and teacher of music.  She is in demand regionally as a soprano soloist, pianist, voice teacher and choral conductor.  Currently, she is the conductor of the Coastal Symphony of Georgia  Chorale, plays viola in the symphony, runs an award-winning studio of voice students, is Artistic Director of the Island Concert Association, is Vice President of the Mozart Society of Glynn County, is a member of the Cancer Network of Hope, the Clan Leslie (being of Scottish descent) and Treasurer of Boy Scout Troop 214. Her performance background is extensive and most recently includes concerts with the Jacksonville Symphony, with the Coastal Symphony of Georgia, for local concert series, for the Jekyll Island Club Sunday Supper series, at the Cloister Hotel, at the University of Tampa, various locales in North Carolina and Georgia.  Happy to return to this particular vocation, she looks forward to an exciting ministry of music at St. Simons Presbyterian.  She is married to Harlan, a graphic artist and photographer and has three sons, Hank, Joe and Ben.
